Title:
LOCK RING DIAMETER-EXPANSION RETAINING METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PIPE JOINT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3853242
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diameter-expansion retaining method fulfilling a function of retaining diameter-expansion of a lock ring during joining operation of a joint, having a feature of losing the diameter-expansion retaining function after completion of the joining of the joint, and unnecessary to be removed even after the completion of the joining of the joint.
SOLUTION: The method is for the pipe joint adapted to have a retaining condition with the lock ring 5 and a projection 8 by receiving the one-split lock ring 5 via a centering rubber 4 in a lock ring groove 3 formed in an inner peripheral surface of a socket 2 and by inserting an insert 7 with the projection 8 at an end into the socket 2 and is for retaining the lock ring 5 to be used with the pipe joint in a diameter-expansion condition. The diameter-expansion condition is retained by interposing a spacer 24 formed of ice transforming from solid with time between extended opposite ends of the lock ring 5, and the lock ring 5 is returned to an original diameter through melting of the ice spacer 24 with the lapse of time.
