Abstract:
PURPOSE: To avoid an engine stall and at the same time improve fuel consumption, even if such a fail mode as to become obstruction of releasing response capability of a lock-up clutch or increase in output torque of the engine occurs.
CONSTITUTION: When something is wrong with a vehicle during coasting, a lock-up clutch is released by detecting a brake signal (B) from a brake switch 17. On the contrary, when nothing is wrong, the lock-up clutch is released in response to deceleration of speed (V) calculated based on a throttle opening TVO and a transmission output shaft rotation speed No which are detected from a throttle opening sensor 10 and a transmission output shaft rotation sensor 15 respectively.
