To provide a locking apparatus for a vending machine, which resists opening of a door of the machine due to forced opening of an operating shaft of the door or breaking of the door from a gap in a side surface, to thereby enhance crime preventive performance.

A front panel 3 of a vending machine includes a keyhole portion 10 having a rotary plate 12, and one ends of upper and lower lock bars 13, 16 are attached to portions above and below the rotary plate 12, respectively, while the other ends of the same are removably inserted into lock holes 15a, 18a of upper and lower latches 15, 18, respectively. Upper and lower stoppers 20, 30 are arranged on the front panel 3 at upper and lower locations thereof, in a manner being rotatable on horizontal shafts 21, 31, respectively. Then, hooking portions 20d, 30d are arranged at rear ends of the upper and lower stoppers 20, 30. Upper and lower locking portions 22, 32 are arranged on a ceiling and an inner bottom of a main body box 2, respectively, which portions have engaging portions 22a, 32a with which the hooking portions 20d, 30d are engaged. Further, the upper and lower lock bars 13, 16 have upper and lower spring pins 23, 33 for biasing the upper and lower stoppers 20, 30, respectively, according to vertical motions.
