To provide a novel device for locking an element of a moving device.
In relation to a device for locking an element 1 of a moving device, this device has a member 11 which is provided with upright parts and depressed parts having profiles which correspond to upright parts 2 and depressed parts 3 of the element to be locked, on its periphery, and the member 11 is installed in the end part of an arm 14, a unit 16 for moving the member 11 between a passive position at which the member is disengaged from the element 1 to be locked and an active position at which the respective upright parts and the depressed parts of the element 1 and the member 11 center each other in order to lock the element 1, means 20, 23 for indexing the position of the element 1 so that the upright parts of the element 1 and the member 11 can face the respective depressed parts, and a means for sensing the position of an arm for supporting the member 11. This device is applicable to the locking of a toothed ring of a steel converter ladle 5.
