PURPOSE: To provide a rotating handle locking mechanism which allows a handle lock to remain in its position, even if an external force is exerted on the handle, unless a grip is pushed, keeps the handle freely rotatable when the grip is pulled and locks the handle when a key is made to fit into the corresponding key groove by further pulling the grip.

CONSTITUTION: A handle 1 is mounted in opposed relation to each end of a U-shaped grip 6, a recess part 1B larger in outside diameter than a recess part 1A is formed at the upper part of the recess part 1A and key grooves 1C and 1D are formed in opposed relation on the inner side wall of the recess part 1B. A stepped part 4B is formed on a block 4 and a plurality of keys 4C adapted to be fitted into the key grooves 1C and 1D are formed around the outer periphery of the stepped part 4B in a radial manner. A flange 4D larger in outside diameter than the stepped part 4B is formed on the underside of the stepped part 4B and a stepped part 4E smaller in outside diameter than the flange 4D is formed on the underside of the flange 4D. Each of check plates 5 is provided with an elongated hole 5A in which the stepped part 4E is receivable.
