Abstract:
1. Lock-and-key system in which the locks have identical borehole patterns whereas the keys are provided with different elevated and recessed portions which interact with several categories of control pins (A, B, C), the pins (A) for detecting the elevated portions being shorter than the pins (B) for detecting the recessed portions, the pins (A, B) being provided with an annex at the ends facing the keyway, and all pin supporting boreholes being graduated towards the inside, characterized by the fact that the elevated portions (4, 5, 6) and recessed portions (7, 8) are formed by at least one locking rib projecting beyond the normal profile, and further characterized by the fact that one category (C) of pins has no annex and that such category, by way of replacement by the pins of the category (B) for detecting the recessed portions, can be used for compensating purposes wherever the rib elevations of individual locks are replaced by recesses in the master keys of a locking installation.
