To make improvements in fastening responsiveness in time of fastening by operating such an engaging reaction as energizing a lockup piston in the clamping direction when engaging both engaging parts in time of reverse driving.
In this hydraulic coupling to be installed with a stator impeller in space between both turbine and pump impellers, an engaging part 71 of a lockup piston 51 constituting a lockup clutch and an engaging part 72 of a location disk 61 installed as being opposed to the lockup piston 51 both are engaged with each other. A slant 73 is formed in the engaging part of the lockup piston 51, and in time of fastening, it is so constituted as to operate such an engaging reaction as energizing the lockup piston 51 in the fastening direction when both these engaging parts 71 and 72 are engaged with each other.
