Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a release of lockup by erroneous detection by arranging a means to instantly release the lockup when output rotation of a torque converter becomes low rotation causing an engine stall when the lockup is continued.
SOLUTION: A transmission controller 200 controls a lockup solenoid 17 so as to instantly release lockup in the case of a sudden deceleration state for causing an engine stall if the lockup is continued, by judging suddent deceleration in the lockup on the basis of a pulse period from a vehicle speed sensor 21. At the same time, the transmission controller 200 controls the lockup solenoid 17 so as to instantly release the lockup at low speed for causing an engine stall if torque converter output side continues the lockup. Therefore, since a deceleration judging threshold value can be set high, a required lockup release can be reliably performed while preventing erroneous detection of a judgment of sudden deceleration.
