Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the finishing temp. of a crude bar with the required min. possible electric power by controlling the making power of a heater in accordance with the rolling finishing temp. predicted and calculated at every measurement point and heating at the finishing temps. of the respective measurement points so as to attain target values.
SOLUTION: The rolling finishing temp.: Tmin when a solenoid type induction heater 7 is not used and the rolling finishing temp.: Tmax when the crude bar 2 is heated by making the max. making power: Pmax to the heater 7 are predicted and calculated with the temp. of the crude bar 2 measured by a heater inlet side thermometer 5 at every temp. measurement point divided to prescribed intervals along the transportation direction of the crude bar 3. The making power P of the heater 7 is controlled online in accordance with the equation by each of the respective measurement points from the finishing temp. Tmin and Tmax predicted and calculated at each of the respective measurement points and the crude bar 2 is so heated that the finishing temp. at each measurement point of the crude bar 2 attains the target temp.: Ttarget.
