PURPOSE: To improve the positioning precision by a method wherein a mechanism to position the cutting scheduled part of a long cloth at a cutting mechanism comprises a pair of cloth receiving bodies and an aligning body located between the cloth receiving bodies.
CONSTITUTION: An aligning body 18 wherein a number of lock pieces 20 are formed in a comb teeth-like shape on the under side of a lever-form base material 19 running long in a direction extending at right angles with a space is arranged between front and rear cloth receiving bodies 22 and 24 vertically movably on a locus running around an upper blade 16 shown by an arrow mark 21. Meanwhile, the front and rear cloth receiving bodies 22 and 24 are formed in a manner to be vertically movable by means of an air cylinder 23. A distance between the cloth receiving bodies 22 and 24 and the aligning body 18 is set to a value higher than the width of the long cloth A. In this constitution, during a process wherein the long cloth A is pulled in a pull-in device 11, the aligning body 18 is lowered and the front and rear cloth receiving bodies 22 and 24 are then raised. In this way, the cloth A is folded in a V-shape by means of the lock piece 20 of the aligning body 18 and the cloth receiving bodies 22 and 24. When the pull-in device 11 is moved to a pull-in position, movement of the cloth A is stopped and the cloth is transferred to a press roller 14 and a feed roller 13.
