PURPOSE: To provide a device capable of shifting only long materials from a pallet storing the long materials to the rear facility of a conveying carriage or the like.

CONSTITUTION: This long material shifting device is provided with a plurality of L-shaped support arms having horizontal hold sections 9a at the lower ends face to face on both sides on a shifting carriage 7 movable along a travel rail 6 and support arm opening/closing devices 8 rotating the support arms 9 so that the hold sections 9a are rotated from the positions parallel with the side faces of the shifting carriage 7 to the perpendicular positions. Only long materials in a pallet can be taken out, the vacant pallet can be immediately returned to a prescribed position, the long materials can be automatically shifted to a conveying carriage and fed to the next process with no waiting time, and the availability factor can be improved.
