Abstract:
To provide a furnace device for a longitudinal graphite growing of a carbon body and a method for growing graphite.
A U-shaped metallic furnace section installed on a fixed rib supporting member is utilized in order to store a carbon electrode body and a thermal insulating filler material enclosing the electrode body. Its device and method are installed and performed such that a vertical smoke channel is arranged between parallel rows of the U-shaped metallic furnace section for promoting a cooling action for a graphite growing electrode body. In another preferred embodiment, water droplets are sprayed over the metallic furnace section.
