Abstract:
To provide a compact vapor vent/chipping valve assembly having a pressure and vacuum relief for restricting overfill.
Float operated vapor vent/chipping valves 30, 32 are mounted on a cap 48 having a vapor outlet port 50 so as to be welded onto an access opening 14 in a fuel tank 10. Otherwise, the valve body of the valve is formed as one component integral with part of a wall structure of the fuel tank. The vapor vent/chipping valves 30, 32 include a gravity operated pressure relief valve 28 for preventing the vent of vapor at threshold pressure or lower. The pressure relief valve 28 includes a vacuum relief valve so that a reverse flow is formed to introduce make-up air when minor atmospheric pressure occurs in the fuel tank 10.
