Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a very low flammability carpet having size stability and high tuft setting capability comprising a pile yarn made of low flammability synthetic fibers, a backing material (a base fabric) made of usual or low flammability synthetic fibers and a specific back finish.
CONSTITUTION: The low flammability carpet floor covering is formed of a pile yarn comprising low flammability synthetic fibers, for example a synthetic fiber modified to be flame detardant by a phosphorous compound co-condensed to the polyester chain, a backing material (a base fabric) of usual flammable synthetic fiber or polyester fiber modified to low flammable material and a back finish. The back finish consists of polyurethane resin composed of groups of 40-80 mol% of formula I (A1 is a 2-12C aliphatic group), 10-40 mol% of formula II (A2 is an o-, m, or p-phenyl), 0-25 mol% of formula III (A3 is a 2-10C aliphatic group; n, m are 1, 2; m+n is 3, 4; n Os are combined to A3), 65-95 mol% of formula IV (B1 is a 2-10C aliphatic group, an alicyclic group), 0-19 mol% of formula V (B2 is a 2-5C aliphatic group, alicyclic group; p is 1, 2), 3-16 mol% of formula VI (C1 is a 2-12C aliphatic group or the like) and 10-25 mol% of formula VII (D1 is a 2-12C aliphatic group or the like).
