To provide low-friction alloy powder with which a low-friction sintered member having no possibility of causing rust formation under ordinary service conditions can be provided.
The powder of alloy having a composition consisting of, by weight, 18-30% Mo, 18-70%, preferably 30-60%, of either or both of Ni and Co, 1-4% S and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities is manufactured preferably by water atomization of molten metal. The low-friction member can be manufactured by singularly compacting and sintering the low-friction alloy powder into the shape of the member or by flame spraying the low-friction alloy powder onto the sliding surface of a material having the shape of the member to deposit a film. A mixture prepared by mixing stainless steel powder, etc., with the low-friction alloy powder can be used in the above sintering and flame spraying. The mixture can also be used with the addition of hard-material powder.
