The surface roughness of a DLC film is set as not more than 0.01 m in arithmetical mean Ra and not more than 0.4% of a projection area ratio of inequalities caused from adhesion and/or releasing of foreign particles on the DLC film in producing a DLC (diamond-like carbon) film on a substrate from ta-C (tetrahederal amorphous carbon) as a DLC film substantially free from hydrogen, and relatively sliding the DLC film with a partner in the presence of a lubricant.
