PURPOSE: To obtain the subject pigment obtained by grinding a flaky inorg. substrate to classify the ground substrate and providing a coloring agent layer to the respective ground particles and excellent in color intensity, concealing capacity, hue reproducibility and dispersibility and useful for the coloration of plastic, printing ink, coating material or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A flaky inorg. substrate such as mica, other plate-shaped silicate or the like is subjected to dry grinding to be classified and a coloring agent layer having a hardly soluble inorg. or org. coloring agent strongly bonded thereto is further provided to the respective ground particles to obtain the objective pigment. As the coloring agent used in the objective pigment, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, an aluminum color lake, a cyanophelate complex, a (metal) phthalocyanine dye, an indanthrene dye or the like are exemplified.
