Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce air-columnar resonant sound in a tire having a plurality of circumferential grooves, by providing point heights having a predetermined width at predetermined intervals along the lengthwise direction of the main grooves, and by specifying the length of sub-grooves. CONSTITUTION:In a section in which ribs 3 are sectioned by sub-grooves, point heights 3a having a width WS which is equal to 0.2 to 0.5 times as large as the width Wm of main grooves 1 are formed extending toward the main grooves, along the lengthwise direction of the main grooves 1 at intervals which are 0.1 to 0.4 times as large as the circumferential ground contact length of the tire. Further, the length (I) of sub-grooves 2 is less than one-half of the width L of the ribs 3 so that it extends to the intermediate position of each rib 3. Thus, the ribs 3 forming the main grooves 1 is made to be concave and convex, thereby it is possible to prevent noise due to air-columnar resonance without deteriorating the wet characteristic and the maneuvering characteristic of the tire.
