Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the audio CD playing time of an audio CD-ROM equipped portable computer and also to minimize the loss of a possible operation time as a computer.
SOLUTION: A CD-ROM subsystem 106 including a computer subsystem 104 and a CD-ROM control button 142 that controls the operation of a CD-ROM drive 138 is provided with an audio interface IC102 and connects the bus 128 of the system 104 to the drive 138 and the button 142. The interface IC102 relays a command and data between the bus 128 and the drive 138 in a 1st operation mode. Although the subsystem 104 is turned off in a 2nd operation mode, a command is sent to the drive 138 and an audio CD is played.
