To provide a low pressure casting method by which the position of molten metal surface in a stoke can correctly be held at the fixed surface position of the molten metal before the molten metal is charged into a cavity and the pressure during when the molten metal is charged into a cavity can be corrcted into the optimum pressure, and to provide a low pressure casting device for the low pressure casting method.
The low pressure casting apparatus 1 is provided with a stoke 11 communicating with a cavity in a die 12. The stoke 11 communicates with the inside of a pressure pot 31 provided in a molten metal holding crucible 21. The inside of the pressure pot 31 is provided with a molten metal surface stroke sensor 35, and, during when the molten metal is charged into the cavity, the sensor part 35B of the molten metal surface stroke sensor 35 continues to detect the position of the molten metal surface in the pressure pot 31, and corrects the filling pressure to the optimum value. After the charge of the molten metal, the sensor part 35B is fixed to the position being away from the molten metal surface. When the molten metal surface comes into contact with the sensor part 35B, it is detected that the position of the molten metal surface in the stoke 11 becomes the fixed position 11a of the molten metal surface.
