Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve low-temperature flowability, wax dispersibility and filter permeability of fuel oils by blending a copolymer (or its modified material) of ethylene and a carboxylic acid vinyl ester and a permeability improving agent.
SOLUTION: A modified copolymer is obtained by optionally adding an unsaturated carboxylic acid ester to a copolymer of a number average molecular weight of 500-8,000, preferably 1,000-3,000 which is obtained by copolymerizing 85-60 wt.%, preferably 80-55 wt.%, of ethylene and 15-40 wt.%, preferably 20-30 wt.%, of a carboxylic acid vinyl ester. A low-temperature flowability improving agent is obtained by blending 95-70 wt.%, preferably 90-75 wt.%, of this copolymer (or its modified material) and 5-30 wt.%, preferably 10-25 wt.%, of a permeability improving agent having a solubility parameter of 8.0-9.6, preferably 8.5-9.2, an HLB value of 0.5-8.7, preferably 0.6-7.8, and a weight average molecular weight of 200-700, preferably 200-500.
