Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the z-stackup of key mechanisms.SOLUTION: A key mechanism includes: a key cap assembly; a support structure; a half butterfly hinge including two separate wings, the two separate wings being positioned adjacent to each other such that a cavity is formed between the two wings, each wing including a large arm and a small arm shorter than the large arm, and each wing including a pair of pivot pins coupled to the support structure and a pair of key cap pins coupled to the key cap assembly; and a coupling mechanism integrally coupling the large arms of the half butterfly hinge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 40
