Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lower block assembly for a thermochemical scarfing device by which a smoothly scarfed surface for a metallic work piece is surely obtained.
SOLUTION: A lower preheating block assembly 9, which is used in a scarfing device 5 for removing surface flaws generating when steel is rolled, is provided with a lower block 38, a lower extending part 39 and a gas discharge port 56. The lower block is provided with an upper surface, end surfaces, a front surface and a rear surface, the lower extending part 39 is provided with a second upper surface being separated a prescribed distance under the upper surface, and the second upper surface is projected forward nearly 2.5-5 times the prescribed distance from the upper surface. The gas discharge port is formed in the longitudinal direction over the whole surface of the front surface and opened between the front surface and the second upper surface, the flow 90 of a sheet-like fuel gas is discharged, the flow of oxidized gas is protected by the flow of the sheet-like fuel gas so that the flow 82 of the oxidized gas is not sucked by air.
