Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the suction of the air into a molten steel flowing hole by enlargement of crack as radiating state developed in the surround of the hole with heat shock, by forming a prescribed depth of slit from the lower end of a lower plate at least in one circle on the outer periphery of the molten steel flowing hole at the projecting part of the lower plate.
SOLUTION: At least one circle of the slit is arranged on the outer periphery of the molten steel flowing hole 4 at the projecting part 3 of the lower plate 1. In this case, R1; R2 is made to 0.1-0.75, D1: D2 is made to 1: 0.1-1.0 and the width W of the slit is made to 0.1-10mm. Further, refractory mortar is filled up in the slit. Ordinarily, since silica as main component in the refractory mortar has very small heat conductivity, the crack caused by the heat shock can drastically be avoided by heat insulating action at this part. Therefore, the crack is developed as the radiating state from the molten steel flowing hole 4 and the oxidation of the molten steel caused by the suction of the air into the molten steel flowing hole 4 is prevented.
