To provide a cold rolling lubricant which has an improved lubricating property and an excellent surface property-uniforming property, and to provide a method for producing the same.
This cold rolling lubricant comprising an emulsion (c) prepared by diluting a base oil (a) comprising one or more oils selected from oils, fats, mineral oils and synthetic esters with water in the presence of a surfactant (b), characterized in that the concentration of the surfactant (b) in the emulsion satisfies the expression: 250 <θw<90° [θw is the contact angle of water containing only the surfactant in the same ratio as the ratio of the surfactant to the water in the emulsion (c)]. The cold rolling lubricant is obtained by adjusting the concentration of the surfactant (b) in the emulsion to satisfy the expression.
