Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vegetable-oil-based biodegradable lubricant compsn. improved in low-temp. flowability and low-temp. storage stability by mixing a specific alkyl (meth)acrylate with a vegetable oil or a polyol ester.
SOLUTION: The compsn. comprises 98-99.99 wt.% vegetable oil or polyol ester and 0.01-2 wt.% polymer having the first kind of repeating units derived from an 8-15C alkyl (meth)acrylate. The polymer pref. comprises 70-99.5 wt.% the first kind of repeating units and 0.5-30 wt.% the second kind of repeating units derived from a 16-24C alkyl (meth)acrylate. A pref. vegetable oil is canola oil. Esp. pref. examples of the polyol ester are neopentyl glycol dioleate, trimethylolpropane trioleate, and trimethylolpropane triisostearate.
