Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a lubricant for a compression refrigerator suitable for an automotive air conditioner which uses HFC-134a by selecting a specific polyoxyalkylene glycol deriv. having ether bonds at both molecular ends as the lubricant.
CONSTITUTION: The lubricant mainly comprises a polyoxyalkylene glycol deriv. of formula I [wherein R1 and R7 are each 1-4C alkyl; R2 to R5 are each H, a 1-10C hydrocarbon group, or a group of formula II (wherein R8 is 2-5C alkylene, etc.; r is 1-20; and R9 is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group) provided at least one of R2 to R5 is a group of formula II; R6 is 2-6C alkylene; p is 1 or higher; and q is 0 or 1 or higher] having a kinematic viscosity at 100°C of 2-50cSt. The lubricant is excellent in compatiblity with a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant such as 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a, a substitute for CFC-12), has excellent lubricant characteristics, and can suitably be used in combination with many refrigerants.
