To provide a lubricant comprising a hydrocarbonaceous organic thin film having the lubricant firmly fixed on the surface of a solid in order to prevent the elimination of the lubricant using the hydrocarbonaceous thin film with a small environmental load in place of an organic silane monomolecular membrane as a lubricating film and to provide a lubrication method.
The lubricant comrising the hydrocarbonaceous organic thin film with high strength and a low friction coefficient is characterized by forming a surface modifying film on the surface of the solid, and then fixing one layer or several layers of the hydrocarbonaceous lubricant molecules on the surface modifying film without exposing the surface modifying film of the surface of the solid to atmosphere. The lubrication method of the surface of solid by the hydrocarbonaceous organic thin film with high strength and a low friction coefficient is characterized by forming a surface modifying film on the surface of solid under vacuum environment such as chemical vapor deposition method(CVD), physical vapor deposition method(PVD) and the like and then, fixing one layer or several layers of the hydrocarbonaceous lubricant molecules on the surface modifying film under vacuum environment without exposing the surface modifying film formed on the surface of the solid to atmosphere .
