To obtain a lubricating composition containing an organomolybdenum compound excellent in oxidation stability and exhibiting lubrication performances for a long term.
This lubricant is composed of a molybdenum amine compound obtained by reacting a compound containing hexavalent molybdenum atom with an amine represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1 to R3 denote each H and/or a hydrocarbon; and at least one of the R1 to R3 is a ≥14C chain hydrocarbon) or general formula (2) (wherein, R4 denotes a ≥10C chain hydrocarbon; s denotes a number of 0 or 1; X and/or Y denote H, a hydrocarbon, a 2-4C alkanol or an alkylamino; but the X and Y cannot simultaneously be H or the hydrocarbon when the s is 0). The lubricating composition comprises the lubricant.
