Abstract:

To provide a lubricating composition suitable for an internal combustion engine.

This lubricating composition includes (a) a cleaning agent package containing (i) an oligomer reaction product of (1) a hydrocarbyl-substituted phenol, (2) an aldehyde and (3) a carboxy-substituted phenol or carboxy-substituted phenylamine, and a salt of the reaction product, (ii) a sulfonate, and (iii) optionally a phenate; (b) a dispersant; and (c) an oil with lubricating viscosity. Here, the sulfonate cleaning agent is overbased with a metal ratio of about 12.5:1 to about 40:1. This composition is suitable for an internal combustion engine (particularly for marine diesel applications) because of improving cleaning properties, antiwear performance and deposit control.
