PURPOSE: To obtain a lubricating composition, grease and aqueous fluid having improved antiwear and extreme pressure characteristics by combining a dithiocarbamate compound with an organic polysulfide.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A dithiocarbamate compound and (B) an organic polysulfide are blended with a major amount of an oil having lubricating viscosity, an oil having lubricating viscosity and a thickener, or water and a surfactant or thickener. A lubricating composition, a grease or an aqueous fluid is thus obtained. Component A is prepared, for example, by reacting dithiocarbamic acid (salt) with an unsaturated amide, acid, anhydride, ester or ether, while component B is prepared, for example, by sulfurizing an olefin. These combinations are used together with (C) a phosphorus or a boron antiwear or an extreme pressure agent.
