To provide lubricating compositions containing a combination of additives providing improved friction and heat stability.
This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising the lubricating composition of a blend, a main amount of an oil with lubricating viscosity, a gear or transmission oil package and a top treatment comprising at least one saturated fatty phosphate ester or salt, and the lubricating composition does not contain a saturated fatty phosphite. In another embodiment, the invention relates to a lubricating composition containing a main amount of an oil with lubricating viscosity, at least one phosphate ester or salt of a saturated fatty acid, at least one polysulfide and at least one phosphor-containing antiwear or an extreme pressure agent, wherein the lubricating composition dose not contain a saturated fatty phosphite. The invention also relates to an additive composition which when added to a lubricant, provides and improves friction characteristics and heat stability characteristics, as required.
