Title:
LUBRICATING DEVICE FOR ENGINE VALVE SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2006083832
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a lubricating device for suppressing the wear of an engine valve system by relatively increasing the amount of lubricating oil to be supplied to an abutting portion between valve system members in an internal space of a tappet.

The lubricating device comprises a guide hole 20 formed in an inside wall 19 opposed to a valve system storage chamber 8 of a cylinder head 3 for slidably supporting the tappet 15 mounted between a cam 17 and a valve 11. The lower end of an annular peripheral wall 21 around the guide hole, as part of the inside wall 19, is joined to an upper deck 7 formed as the bottom wall of the valve system storage chamber 8 to form a guide hole extending portion 27 at the lower side of the guide hole 20. An oil sump groove 28 is formed into which oil flows from the upper deck 7 is formed in the lower part of the guide hole extending portion 27 for communicating the guide hole extending portion 27 and the valve system storage chamber 8. A throttled sideways opening 31 opposed to the oil sump groove 28 is formed in the lower part of the annular peripheral wall 21.
