Title:
LUBRICATING GEAR OF DOUBLE OVERHEAD-CAMSHAFT TYPE ENGINE FOR OUTBOARD MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3892948
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating gear of a double overhead-camshaft type engine for an outboard motor, where oil is not stagnated in a cam chamber.
SOLUTION: Both intake and exhaust camshafts are installed in a cylinder head so as to make the axial direction point to the vertical direction. This cylinder head 18 is equipped with a head cover forming a cam car in a gap with this cylinder head. In this case it is so structured that oil is forcibly fed to each lubricated part of these camshafts, under pressure, with an oil pump. In succession, both undersides of an intake camshaft side cam car 29 and an exhaust camshaft side cam chamber 30 are made so as to be partitioned off, and thereby they are intercommunicated with an oil return passage at the side of a cylinder body through an oil passage 73 at a lower end of the cylinder head 18. In addition, this oil passage 73 is formed into being projected downward and one end is opened to the cam car 29, and the other end to the cam chamber 30, respectively.
