PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant composition which is used for internal combustion engines, can inhibit exhaust gas-cleaning catalysts for the internal combustion engines and/or the exhaust gas post-treating devices for Diesel engines from being poisoned with phosphorus, can further inhibit the accumulation of ash, and has excellent abrasion resistance, slag-preventing property, oxidation stability and piston cleanability. SOLUTION: This lubricant composition for internal combustion engines substantially not containing phosphorus contains (A) a synthetic oil having a kinematic viscosity of 3 to 15 mm2/s at 100 deg.C, (B) a phenolic ash-free antioxidant in an amount of 0.5 to 3 wt.% on the total amount of the composition, (C) an amine-based ash-free antioxidant in an amount of 0.3 to 3 wt.% based on the total amount of the composition, and (D) a boron-containing, ash-free dispersant having a polybutenyl group having a number-average mol.wt. of 900 to 3500 and having a boron content (B)/nitrogen content (N) weight ratio of >=0.24 in an amount of >=200 mass ppm as a boron content on the basis of the total amount of the composition.
