Abstract:
To obtain a lubricating oil composition exhibiting improved low temperature valve train wear performance at a lowered phosphorus content.
This lubricating oil composition comprises a major amount of an oil having lubricating viscosity, an oil soluble molybdenum compound in an amount providing at least 50 ppm molybdenum in the composition, a metal hydrocarbyl dithiophosphate in an amount providing ≤600 ppm phosphorus in the composition, an effective amount of at least one metal-free friction modifier and an effective amount of at least one phosphorus-free antioxidant.
