To provide a lubricant composition enough high in HTHS viscosity at 150°C, enough low in kinetic viscosity at 40°C, kinetic viscosity at 100°C and HTHS viscosity at 100°C, and excellent in low temperature viscosity characteristic.
The lubricating oil composition contains a lubricating oil base oil having a kinetic viscosity at 100°C of 1 to 5 mm2/s, and a viscosity index improver which has a ratio of 0.50 or more of the total area M1 of a peak between 51 and 52.5 ppm of a chemical shift and the total area M2 of the peak between 64 and 66 ppm to the total area of the total peak in spectra obtained by 13C-NMR and which has a weight average molecular weight of 200,000 or more. In the lubricating oil composition, the ratio between HTHS viscosity at 150°C and HTHS viscosity at 100°C satisfies a condition represented by the following expression (A).
