To obtain a lubricating oil excellent in suitability for use in drawing and capable of being easily removed from the drawn object by using a polyether having a specified kinematic viscosity and a total degree of unsaturation satisfying specified relationships.
Used is a polyether having a structure represented by the formula: R1[O(R2O)m-R3]n and having a kinematic viscosity (at 40°C) of 5-5,000 mm2/s and a total degree of unsaturation satisfying the relationships: Y≤2×10-5×Z-0.015. In the structural formula, R1 is a 1-20C alkyl, a 1-20C alkenyl, a 1-20C acryl, or a di- to hexa-valent 1-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R2 is a 2-4C alkylene; R3 is H, a 1-20C alkyl, a 1-20C alkenyl, or a 1-20C acyl; m is a positive integer; and n is 1-6. In the relationships, Z is the number- average molecular weight; and Y is the total degree of unsaturation (meq/g), provided that when R1 is a group having carbon-to-carbon double bonds, Y has a value resulting from the subtraction of the degree of unsaturation ascribable to the double bonds.
