Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a producing method of a lubricating oil having at least 120 viscosity index and at least -45°C pour point.
CONSTITUTION: This lubricating oil is produced by oligomerizing a mixture of 5-20C 1-olefins comprising at least 2.6 wt.% of 1-decene and at least 6 wt.% of 1-hexene in the presence of an oligomerization catalyst. The lubricating oil thus produced is hydrogenated in the presence of hydrogen to improve its oxidation stability. This method is especially suitable for an olefin feed material produced by Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in which carbon monoxide and hydrogen are passed over a heated catalyst.
