To obtain a lubricating release agent which exhibits molding and lubricating characteristics stable at high temps. by adding an alkali metal compd. to a compsn. comprising a higher fatty acid, a phosphoric ester, a polymeric carboxylic acid, and a solid lubricant to give a solid, dispersion having specified concn. and pH.
This release agent is prepd. by adding an alkali metal compd. (e.g. sodium hydroxide) to a compsn. comprising 100 pts.wt. solid lubricant having a particle size of 100 μm or lower and selected from among graphite, mica, talc, etc., 10-200 pts.wt. higher fatty acid, 5-50 pts.wt. phosphoric ester (e.g. tridecyl phosphate), and 1-20 pts.wt. polymeric carboxylic acid (e.g. an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer) having an acid value of 10 or higher in order to give a dispersion having a solid content of 1% and a pH adjusted to 7.5-10.0. This release agent is esp. effective in processing at 350-600°C. The higher fatty acid is a 10-22C satd. fatty acid optionally contg. a small amt. of an unsatd. fatty acid or is a natural fatty acid such as coconut oil fatty acid or tallow fatty acid.
