PURPOSE: To improve the safety and durability of a slide bearing, and to enable the stable operation of a large-sized industrial machine for a long period, by lubricating the bearing with a lubricating oil obtained by adding an oil-soluble polyisobutylene having a specific weight-average molecular weight to a refined mineral oil having specific kinetic viscosity and viscosity index.
CONSTITUTION: The slide bearing of a large-sized industrial machine is lubricated with a lubricating oil composed mainly of a refined mineral oil having a kinetic viscosity of 10W10,000cst (40°C) and a viscosity index of ≥80 and added with 1W1,000ppm, based on the whole composition, of an oil-soluble polyisobutylene having a weight-average molecular weight of ≥600,000. The lubricating oil composition is preferably incorporated with an aromatic amine antioxidant (e.g. diphenylamine) or an alkylphenol antioxidant (e.g. 2,6-di-t-butyl-p-cresol) according to circumstances.
