Abstract:

To effectively utilize space by increasing the degree of freedom of layout of oil passages, and provide smooth oil feed by reducing oil passages formed by machining.

In an underside surface of a cylinder block 50, a recessed groove 59 in the same curvature as a recessed groove 131 in a cover 130 is formed by hole-casting, and it is covered with a plate 110 to form an oil outgoing passage PA1. The recessed groove 131 is closed with a plate 110 to form an oil return passage PA2. Oil is thus fed from the outgoing passage PA1 through an oil filter 56 to the return passage PA2. In the cylinder block 50, passages 66, 68, 72, and 74 are provided as separate passages. In a right and a left cylinder heads 80, passages 84 and 85 matching the passages 66 and 68, and passages 86 and 87 matching the passages 72 and 74 are respectively provided as separate passages. Oil is thus fed into the cylinder heads and a variable valve timing system through separate routes.
