PURPOSE: To accomplish a promt treatment of lumber by using a dispersion preventive fence as an open barge.
CONSTITUTION: A large-scale rolling barge 1 is towed to a designated point on the sea. With the barge 1 inclined, lumbers 5 are thrown into a dispersion preventive fence composed of a number of floats 2 of open barge hinge type frame construction connected in series. Then, a circle is made of a proper number of the bodies 2 to form an open barge in which the lumbers 5 is housed. The open barge thus formed is towed by a tag 4 to a point of discharge. With such an arrangement, a proper shape of circle is formed according to the shape and other factors of the lumbers 5 for immediate towing. In addition, the floats 2 can be used as a stage for workers engaged in counting, measurement and arrangement.
