A light extraction sheet 7 is provided on the surface of an EL element 101. Formed on a face 8a of a light permeable substrate 8 as a light deflection element 5 for the light extraction sheet 7 are first unit lenses 40 arranged in parallel to each other along one direction and a plurality of second unit lenses 50 arranged in parallel to each other along a direction crossing the first unit lenses 40. The first unit lenses 40 and the second unit lenses 50 are shaped like a convex in cross section and are contiguous in one direction. The contiguous direction of the first unit lenses 40 and that of the second unit lenses 50 intersect each other at right angles.
