To provide a luminaire, which can be easily installed or moved, with designability improved, concerning one for mounting on a ceiling; and to provide its installation method.
In mounting the luminaire 10 on the ceiling 17 structured by fitting a ceiling panel 16 to the ceiling bars 15 provided through a hanging tool 14 at a lattice-shaped ceiling frame 13 hung down from a structural member 11, a mounting plate 23 of the luminaire 10 is made consistent with an interval of the ceiling bars 15, so that the mounting plate 23 can be mounted on the ceiling bars 15 instead of the ceiling panel 16. Therefore, the luminaire 10 can be easily moved to another place, and a versatile illumination arrangement can be made in accordance with the use of a room. Moreover, the mounting plate 23 is mounted on the ceiling frame 13 with high strength and rigidity by the mounting tool 26, so that the luminaire 10 can be securely mounted.
