To provide a luminaire which efficiently illuminates without light emission at an end so that a spread of an optical flux in a sub-scan direction is suppressed and the optical flux in a main scan direction (one-dimensional direction) is made more uniform in an area to be illuminated.
This luminaire is a luminaire for an image reader which forms a scattered light from a manuscript face illuminated by a light source into an image in an image sensor by an image formation lens, reads the image of the manuscript face in one dimension, and shifts it in a rectangular direction to this read direction to repeat this one-dimensional read operation successively, thereby reading a two-dimensional image. The luminaire has an illumination lens having at least a plurality of lenses, and a plurality of optical fluxes outputted by an individual lens of the illumination lens are overlapped on the manuscript face.
