PURPOSE: To provide a luminaire in which the strip-form both-end parts of a plurality of semitransparent or opaque cover pieces are rotatably fitted to a rotary shaft and a stopper for stopping the plural cover pieces in respective suitable positions is provided.

CONSTITUTION: When cover pieces 31 are rotated downward, indirect illumination is made, and when the cover pieces 31 are stopped upward by a stopper 42, direct illumination is made. Thus, this luminaire is very convenient since it can easily make indirect illumination or direct illumination. Since it has a plurality of cover pieces 31, the respective cover pieces are moved to a suitable position and fixed thereto, which enable to make various different illuminations, for instance, illumination which has the light and darkness of a striped pattern.
