Abstract:

To provide a luminescence sign which can be made thinner and light in weight by reducing the thickness over the entire part of the sign even when constituted by being provided with a relatively large display area and in which external electrode illuminants to make desired high luminance obtainable without the occurrence of illumination unevenness are used.

The luminescence sign 100 is constituted by providing the back of a translucent sheet 14 with a backlight 12. The backlight 12 is formed by arraying a plurality of external electrode fluorescent lamps 20 respectively provided with external electrodes 23, 23 on an outer surface section of a long-sized tube main part 21 at prescribed intervals and respectively connecting the external electrodes 23, 23 to each other by coated lead wires 25.
