To provide a luminous type photocatalyst where a catalyst action is exerted for a long time even in the absence of light radiation and makes a luminous oxide inhibit no catalyzing reaction of the photocatalyst and a method for manufacturing the same.
The catalyst is the luminous type photocatalyst having a luminous oxide and a photocatalyst, and is formed of a protrusion consisting of the photocatalyst on the surface of a substrate consisting of the luminous oxide. The photocatalyst protrusion and a luminous oxide substrate are bonded in a surface contact condition. The surface of the luminous oxide substrate is partially exposed. The method is employed for manufacturing the luminous type photocatalyst that makes photocatalyst layers consisting of the photocatalyst overlie the surface of the luminous oxide substrate, and partially exposes the surface of the luminous oxide substrate to form the photocatalyst protrusion by partially removing the photocatalyst layer.
