To provide a method of obtaining a highly fibrillated lyocell fiber with reduced content of fine fibers formed by dropping out from a stem fiber compared to conventional methods.SOLUTION: A beating method of a lyocell fiber by treating a lyocell fiber dispersion with a refiner, is characterized by that a concentration of the lyocell fiber involved in the dispersion is 4.5-6.0 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
